Generations Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Generations outpatient program at Canyon Ridge Hospital is dedicated to addressing issues unique to an aging population. Some topics covered are grief and loss, changes in physical functioning, transitions such as retirement, changes in living situations and loss of independence.

Generations groups are facilitated by a licensed marriage and family therapist and overseen by a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed program director and a registered nurse.

Located in Chino, California, Canyon Ridge Hospital’s Generations Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is more intensive than traditional outpatient and is designed to achieve short-term stabilization and resolution of immediate problem areas. The patient and family are offered services by a team of professionals. The patient is enrolled in a time-limited program with other patients working on similar issues. Mental Health and Older Adults

Mental Health issues in older adults can often be swept under the rug or even ignored as, sadly, people oftentimes mistake the warning signs of behavioral health issues as part of aging. This is not always the case. Mental health issues in older adults are quite common, and with the right treatment program can be managed or even get better over time.

With the older adult population expected to more than double by 2050, it is important to be aware of mental health disorders, substance abuse or drugs or alcohol problems in older adults.

Why Choose an Intensive Outpatient Program for Older Adults

Senior adult intensive outpatient treatment can be beneficial to patients because older adults require outpatient services that understand their unique needs. Treatment is not one-size-fits all, and older adult services should not be either. Therapy sessions, treatment and other methods have to all take into account specialized needs of each population – and outpatient care at Canyon Ridge Hospital does just that. We listen to both you and your loved one and determine what treatment will work best for them for whatever issue they may be facing.

Does Older Adult Outpatient Treatment Work?

Older adult mental health intensive outpatient programs at Canyon Ridge Hospital can make a big impact on the life of your loved one. Finding the root of the issue and providing them with the skills, tools and education necessary to manage their behavioral health issue can drastically improve their quality of life.

Whether or not treatment works depends on the willingness of the patient to get better and the level of care needed, but at Canyon Ridge, we are more than ready to provide everything needed for your loved one to take the next step.
