Inpatient mental health care is provided in a stable and therapeutic environment. Psychiatric treatment, group therapy and structured activities are based on an individual’s needs and goals. Acute inpatient hospitalization occurs when an individual’s issues cannot be safely or effectively treated on an outpatient basis. It is the most intensive level of psychiatric care offered but is designed to stabilize the patient before transitioning them to a less intensive level of care.
